Kanyuka Mumba

KEY COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE:


Mr. Kanyuka Mumba is a Registered Engineer possessing over fourteen (14) years experience as a senior Civil Engineer and Infrastructure Expert. He has worked with the World Bank, the corporate world, the engineering consultancy and the Zambian public sector, specialising in project planning, preparation, appraisal and management, as well as contract administration and construction superintendence. He thus brings vast and well-rounded expertise to the RDA, having successfully worked in varied environments of the profession at senior management level. He is a team-player and results-oriented.

 

Prior to joining the Road Development Agency (RDA) in May 2011, Mr. Mumba worked with the World Bank for almost three (3) years as Transport Specialist and Infrastructure Expert in both Zambia and Malawi, focussing on the International Development Association’s (IDA’s) portfolio in the Transport and Water and Sanitation Infrastructure Sectors.

Mr. Mumba began his career in 1997 in the construction sector, and in 1998 joined Brian Colquhoun, Hugh O’Donnell and Partners as lead engineer in charge of several road and civil engineering projects. In 2000, he joined the Roads Department (now RDA) as Executive Engineer, and was later appointed Head of Contracts Management Unit (Maintenance Projects). In 2003, Mr. Mumba was appointed Principal and Officer-In-Charge of the Roads Training School (now National Council for Construction Training School). Between 2004 and 2008, he worked as Infrastructure and Projects Manager for leading mobile telecommunications company, Celtel Zambia (now Bharti Airtel), mainly taking lead in the implementation of large network infrastructure rollout projects and estate management. Later in 2008, Mr. Mumba worked in an independent capacity, including Associate Consultant with Mwila V&V Consulting Engineers, before joining the World Bank in the same year.

3)    Certificate in Financial and Budgetary Management of Projects awarded by the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute, ESAMI (September 2003)
4)    Certificate in Tender Evaluation awarded by the Zambia National Tender Board and the National Council for Construction, NCC (February 2003)
5)    Certificate in Preparation of Labour-based Rehabilitation Contracts – United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) Feeder Roads Project, Chipata, Eastern Province (1998)
