The Road Development Agency (RDA) is committed to ensuring that rehabilitation works on the Kafue Hook Bridge across that Kafue River in Western Province are completed in 2018.
RDA Board Chairperson Mr. Samuel Mukupa when we toured the site on January 11, 2018 said that the Kafue Hook Bridge was very important in the transportation of goods and services in the country and Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
Mr. Mukupa said many trucks ferrying goods getting into country and exiting through Katima Mulilo border in Sesheke District depended on the Kafue Hook Bridge hence making it an economic lifeline for Western province and Zambia.
Kafue Hook Bridge is currently undergoing rehabilitation works which are expected to be completed in the next seven months and will have an increased lifespan of 25 years.

The more than K147 million project is being undertaken by China Henan International Cooperation Company and the bridge is 270 metres long.
“I am here to assure you that we are going to offset a huge chunk of the outstanding money within the first quarter of this year and come the end of the year, this site will have a different story to tell,” Mr. Mukupa.
He said the rehabilitation works on the Bridge were commissioned in October 2015 but had delayed due to financial constraints.
