Housing and Infrastructure Development Minister Honourable Ronald Chitotela has implored contractors country-wide to execute quality works in their pursuit to meet the set deadline.
Hon. Chitotela said in as much as the Governmnet wanted the projects to be completed on time, the contractors had an obligation to ensure that quality was not compromised.
The minister said this when he inspected works on 122 kilometre Kawambwa-Mporokoso road which is being upgraded from gravel to bitiminous standard at a cost of US$142.2 million.

“In our quest to finish all the projects countrywide, I am urging the contractors to ensure that they do not compromise on quality. Zambians need to get value for their money. As Government we are committed to ensuring that all projects are completed on time without the contractors compromising on quality,” he said.
Hon Chitotela said he was happy with the progress so far recorded on site with a stretch of almost four kilometers being tarred from the time the works commenced.

The road under construction

RDA Luapula province Regional manager Eng. Samuel Twasa explained that when completed, the road would unlock economic potential endowed in the region and boost various sectors such as trade and tourism.
Eng. Twasa said the road would help uplift the living standards of the people in the area and ease the movement of goods and services between Luapula and Northern Provinces.
He said China Harbour Engineering Company was the contractor contracted to do the works.
