The minister has however, challenged Zambian contractors to be serious and approach the construction business with renewed vigour.

New look Chingola

He said he was disappointed that the contract to rehabilitate the Chingola-Solwezi road had been delayed by Buildcon Construction Company which had not yet completed its section.
He urged the contractor to speed up works and warned that there would be no more extension of the works contract.
Hon. Chitotela commended Swift Cargo Construction, a Zambian owned entity and China Geo for completing their sections of work.
Copperbelt Minister Japhen Mwakalombe who had also accompanied Hon. Chitotela said works on Chingola Township roads had shamed critics.
Hon. Mwakalombe said a number of jobs had also been created in the mining town thereby putting money in people’s pockets.
Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo commended the Government for improving the road network in Chingola.
Hon. Chilombo said Chingola had been previously referred to as a “War zone” due to the bad state of the roads.
He said with the new developments, Chingola was ready to be awarded a City status.
