The Government through the Road Development Agency (RDA) has engaged China Geo Engineering Corporation to undertake holding maintenance works on the 300 kilometres stretch from Chitambo District in Central Province to Chinsali District in Muchinga Province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contractor has so far done pothole patching of approximately 283 from Lukulu Bridge to Chinsali District. The contractor has also completed all the reconstruction section from Lukulu Bridge to Chinsali District.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The scope of works includes:<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

  • Re-construction of 31 damaged section to include double surfacing;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Pothole patching;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Reshaping of side and mitre drains;<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Sub-surface drainage (rockfill); and<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Temporal works to ensure smooth travel of the vehicles.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    The Chinsali to Serenje section of the Great North Road has been in bad state for some time now.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    The travelling time and vehicle maintenance has reduced with this intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The project has also contributed to employment opportunities with 150 employees being engaged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\r\n
