Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development Minister today conducted an on-the-spot check of construction works on Chipata-Chadiza Road in Eastern Province.

Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi has urged the Road Development Agency (RDA) and the consultant to ensure that the road was delivered to the prescribed specifications.

” We want a quality road and not a substandard road. So far, we are moving in a positive direction, and I am happy with what we have seen,” he said.

The Minster is accompanied by the RDA Board of Directors Chairperson, Eng. Eugene Haazele, National Road Fund Agency (NRFA) Board of Directors Chairperson, Mr. Noel Nkhoma, RDA acting Director and Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Jairos M’hango and other senior Government and Road Sector Officials.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Hon. Eng. Milupi said President Hakainde Hichilema was keen on ensuring that the Chipata-Chadiza Road project was delivered to an international standard and in a timely manner as it is a legacy project.

” As you can see, this is a farming community, and we want to open up the area to other economic activities, ” Hon. Eng. Milupi said.

The Resident Engineer from KAPLUM FINIX Joint Venture, Eng. Alinani Msisya assured the Minister that the consultant was equal to the task and would ensure that quality was not compromised.

Eng. Msisya said the project scope involves the construction of 65 kilometres of road from Chipata to Chadiza, 15 kilometres of township roads in Chipata, and 5 kilometres township roads in Chadiza District.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

He said the project commenced in January 2025, and the duration was 18 months.

Sable Transport and Construction Company Managing Director Yusuf Alloo assured the Government that his firm was committed to undertaking works of high standards.

And speaking after he concluded the tour of the road in Chadiza District, Hon. Eng. Milupi said 15 % physical progress had been achieved on the project.

He said he had been assured that the majority of the works on the project would be undertaken by the end of this year.

He said that the three fundamental principles of project implementation, that is, the right price, delivered to specifications, and timelines, would be adhered to.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\r\n
