The Government, through the Road Development Agency (RDA), has signed a contract to upgrade approximately 100 kilometres of the Isoka–Muyombe Road to bituminous standard in Muchinga Province.

The contractor is China Geo-Engineering Corporation in Joint Venture with Green Horn Limited.
The contract sum is K1,184,199,957.12, VAT inclusive, and the project is expected to be completed within 24 months.



The scope of works includes, but is not limited to, the following:
1. Clearing and grubbing;
2. Cut-and-fill construction operations;
3. Construction of drainage structures;
4. Widening of the existing road embankment;
5. Construction of selected subgrade, gravel sub-base, and cement-stabilised base layers;
6. Surfacing with double seal surface dressing;
7. Installation of road signage and road markings;
8. Installation of guardrails and other ancillary works; and
9. Construction of the Bemba Bridge.
The contractor has since commenced mobilisation and is expected to begin construction works shortly.
